Master Bedroom Inspiration

March 19, 2016

I’ve been forced to take some rest lately, and have been spending significant amounts of time in bed the last couple of days.  Good news, I’m in recovery mode.  Bad news, it gives me a lot time staring at the walls and ceiling – and realize that it in terrible need of a paint job.

I’ve actually wanted to do this for a long time.  Even before I set up my office in the nook in our room.  But I could never decide on the colour.

We have dark, real wood furniture.  Its neutral enough to give us plenty of options, however, its better to stay neutral.  Our bedroom has two good sized windows, but faces North  So while we get daylight, its usually shaded light.  Which is why I love the idea of just going white.

I love the brightness that it brings to spaces and how it brings out the beautiful colours in everything else.  The furniture, the plants, decor.  However, could I live with it?

What about adding in a high contrasting accent colour – like deep charcoal grey?  What do you guys think?  Should I go for it?

Here are some of the images that have inspired me.

But probably my favourite space that I have seen, that I’m using for inspiration is this one from Lesley W Graham, from her own home.

In fact, I’ve put together a bit of a mood board to help me visualize the space.

My ideas for the space are also relatively inexpensive.  For those interested, here are the items.
Paint:  Betonel – Approximately $100 (exact colours TBD)
Planter:  IKEA – RAGKORN $34.99
Plant:  IKEA – Monsterra (check out in store for local offering and prices)
Curtains:  IKEA – LENDA $39.99/pair
Plant Pot:  IKEA – ARSTID $19.99 each
Wall Art:  West Elm -Capiz Wall Art – Triptych On-Line for $199 (on sale)

So stay tuned.  I will probably get my husband to take on the painting at some point over the next few weeks.  And then I will be happy to share some before and after shots of the space – it will be a surprise as to what we decide on 😉
